A traditional, 18th century Cycladic house with a courtyard and an old well in the center was transformed in 2010 into an extraordinary restaurant, Bakalo restaurant Mykonos. It is located in the area of Lakka at the center of Mykonos town and offers favorite Greek dishes. It is the only restaurant in Mykonos island that has been certified by Aegean Cuisine.

Creators of Bakalo restaurant Mykonos are three people with different careers (in journalism, tourism and psychology), Nikos Nanou, Egidio Guerreri and Vicky Hatzidakis, and with a lot of love for Greek traditional cuisine and Mykonos island. Responsible for the menu is the famous chef Yannis Gavalas, who has a deep knowledge of traditional Greek recipes.

The internal decoration was inspired by the bakalotaverna, a combination of a grocery store and a tavern that flourished in the past decades all over Greece. Inside the Bakalo restaurant Mykonos you will see food shelves on the walls, old advertisement posters, an open-plan kitchen, a large central table and a wonderful mosaic with bright colors on the floor. The outdoor courtyard hosts smaller tables overlooking the narrow alley and the people passing by.

In Bakalo restaurant Mykonos menu catalogue, dishes are categorized by price from the cheapest to the most expensive, so that your order can stay within your budget limits. Excellent choices are the stuffed grilled squid with spinach, rice and vinaigrette tarama sauce and the calf stew with thyme and sweet wine. The barrel wine is very good but you can also choose among some well-known Greek labels. For a dessert, order the sour cheese mousse with rakomelo syrup and fig.
